Nathan Cool is a Marine Forecaster for SwellWatch.com (formerly WetSand Inc.), founder of the forecasting service WaveCast, an associate member of the American Meteorological Society, and a professional member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Recognized as a pioneer in the field of long-range marine, surf and wind forecasting, Nathan is well known as the author of the world’s first comprehensive book on surf forecasting: The WetSand WaveCast Guide to Surf Forecasting, and many other books including his latest work on climate change, Is it Hot in Here? -- The simple truth about global warming.
A renowned innovator in long-range marine forecasting, Nathan has been featured in various periodicals including the Los Angeles Daily News, Associated Press, the Ventura County Star, Los Angeles Magazine, The Santa Cruz Sentinel, and more. Since the mid 1990s, Nathan has been a regular guest on the Surf Talk Radio Network, which has had a listening audience in Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Louis Obispo, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Diego California counties and Hilo Hawaii, providing long-range seasonal forecasts.
Nathan is also an accomplished engineer and is currently working on a project redesigning the NOAA National Weather Radio system. Nathan also specializes in network software automation and Internet, enterprise technologies and is one of the first in the surfing industry to develop proprietary automation software for wave and wind prediction. Nathan has also been recognized with various network industry awards including "Product of The Year" 2000 by Communication Solutions Magazine for automated software development solutions, and "Product of the Year 1999" for one of the world’s first TCP testing solutions.
